Howard College Baseball Stars Shine with All-Conference Honors

The Howard College Hawks baseball team concluded the 2024–25 season with notable achievements, as three standout players earned All-Conference honors, highlighting the team's competitive spirit and individual excellence.

Jimmy Dionne – First Team All-Conference & All-Region

Sophomore 1st Basemen Jimmy Dionne delivered a remarkable season, securing both First Team All-Conference and All-Region accolades. Over 44 games, Dionne achieved a .404 batting average, complemented by a .449 on-base percentage and an impressive .876 slugging percentage. His offensive prowess included 17 home runs, 20 doubles, and 63 hits, contributing significantly to the team's total of 378 runs. Defensively, Dionne maintained a .993 fielding percentage, underscoring his all-around impact on the field.

Sam Distel – Second Team All-Conference

Freshman Outfielder Sam Distel's consistent performance earned him a spot on the Second Team All-Conference. In 30 games, Distel posted a .411 batting average, with 44 hits, 8 doubles, and 2 triples. His speed on the bases was evident with 11 stolen bases, and he crossed the plate 38 times, showcasing his role as a catalyst in the Hawks' offense.

Gavin Speirs – Second Team All-Conference

Sophomore infielder Gavin Speirs also received Second Team All-Conference honors, reflecting his vital role in the team's success. Speirs appeared in 49 games, achieving a .341 batting average, with 59 hits, 15 doubles, and 5 home runs. He drove in 38 runs and scored 43 times, demonstrating his offensive consistency. Defensively, Speirs was a cornerstone in the infield, contributing to 17 double plays and maintaining a .966 fielding percentage.

These individual honors reflect the dedication and talent present within the Howard College baseball program. As the Hawks look forward to the next season, the achievements of Dionne, Distel, and Speirs set a high standard for excellence and commitment on and off the field. Congratulations Hawks!
